Economics for the rest
of us.
I was (for a short time) a Ph.D. student of economics at George Mason University. It turns out that it wasn't a good fit for me but I am still very interested in various aspects of the science. In particular I'd like to be able to explain some of the basic (and not so basic) concepts of economics in ways that non academic types can understand. It really is very thought provoking and worthwhile. There's a rather diverse range of topics here including new ways to look at the macro economy, basic ideas about demand curves, a mathematical economic explanation for giving gifts at Christmas, and a paper on tithing in colonial Virginia.
