I’ve crossed a line…

… ad I don’t know if there’s any recovering from this. I actually got a membership to a place that rents nothing but anime movies. There’s only a couple of things that I’m going to get, mostly shows that I can’t keep up with on adult swim… For this weekend’s viewing, I got the FLCL series. Watching the shows on TV was a real WTF was that experience. I’m hoping to get more out of them the second time around. I’m also going to try to catch up with the Ghost in the Shell series. Wasn’t real impressed with the “2nd gig” series, but it looks like it’s picking up now, better go and watch the earlier shows so I know what’s going on. I’m also probably going to see some Full metal alchemist and Samurai Champloo as well. Ah hell, I’m a big geek aren’t I?

Good Friday

Today was a bit trying… A 12 hour day and I was the only manager. The computers didn’t want to work this morning, and there was a wreck tying up traffic on the way into work. Lunch sucked (and was kind of expensive). I managed to keep my head together though. I figured things could be worse, I could be up on a cross…

Good Friday means more to me than Easter and Christmas put together. Not exactly a
“good” time, but a thoughtful one to be sure. As is my usual thing, I am listening to Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater tonight. It’s a piece about Mary at Calvary. A sadder and more beautiful piece of music I’ve never heard. Have a great Easter everyone!

Cutest thing ever…

… is my friend Giane speaking with a southern drawl. Keep in mind that she has a heavy Brazilian accent, and when she slips into her “southern belle” accent, it’s enough to knock me over. Just thought Y’all’d like to know:-)

The gospel of Judas

There was a bit of a flurry around the release of “The Gospel of Judas” today. It is an old Gnostic text that supposedly sheds light on history’s most infamous traitor. According to the new text, Jesus told Judas to hand Him over to the Romans, and Jesus considered Judas His closest disciple.

I don’t really know one way or the other how much to believe in all of this, but I do know one thing, Judas has been one of the most misunderstood, and yes, unappreciated characters in history. Every Christian sect depends on prophets from the Old Testament to lend legitimacy to the concept of Jesus as Christ. Many of these prophecies talk of a perfect sacrifice, a true passover, the lamb of God, etc. If Jesus was Christ, he was ordained to die. Which Christian denomination would be the same if Christ was not crucified and resurrected? What would Christianity be? If you believe that Christ was sacrificed for the sins of all mankind, if you believe that He was the culmination of Old Testament prophecies, and if you believe that without His grace you would burn in hell forever, then surely you must believe that His death was necessary. It is clear to me that the participants in Jesus’ capture, torture, and crucifixion had no choice. When people “blame” the Jews, Caiphus, Pilate, Annas, and Judas for Jesus’ death, what exactly are they blaming them of? It seems strange to me to “blame” someone for the salvation of all mankind, but this is exactly what happens when these names are brought up. Judas (and Jew) haters routinely point to Jesus’ death as justification for their hatred. They love Jesus, so they hate the ones that betrayed and killed Him. Why do they Love Jesus? Because He died for them…

I say give Judas a break, he was a participant in a very complex drama, one that had an ulterior objective that he couldn’t hope to understand at the time. It is my belief that all of these people (and that’s all they were) did what they thought was best at the time. There’s a good lesson in there somewhere…

No more excuses…

All of you people running crummy windows boxes need to go out and buy an Apple computer. They have just released software that will allow you to install windows XP on your Intel based mac. Now you can use all of those programs you are forced to use in Windows, but use mac OS X for all of your internet, music, design, etc. needs ON THE SAME COMPUTER! I am seriously considering buying a new MAc, and for all the wrong reasons, I’d be able to play games again…:-) This should rocket Apple market share up quite a bit.

One of the greatest song lines ever…

.. is in Summerholidays Vs. Punkroutine. “Rather be forgotten then remembered for giving in.”

Refused was an amazing group. Don’t care for their politics much, but they were honest and dear Lord could they rock…

OUCH!

Alrighty then, a mere grand to get the car up to snuff. Turns out that my brake rotors have been wearing oddly and they need to be replaced to fix the terrible shimmy I get during braking… That hurts, it’s gong to screw up my budget a bit, but oh well, I’ll just have to do a little rearranging. I get to go get my crown next week! Who needs disposable income anyway?

New pages up on website

I put up a couple of pages on some music videos that I found worth watching more than a couple of times. Every once in a while one will strike my fancy, so I’ll update it as I see them. The new pages are under my Music musings tab. I’ve already fallen behind on updating my recently read books page, I’ll try to do that tomorrow…
